Shoe Romance: Poetry

While out-n-about in Houston, I spotted a mobile poet, by the name of Traci Lavois shelling out her precious poems for donations and/or barter. As the customer, all you do is give her a subject and she creates the poem. My topic, S H O E S.

"God Save My Shoes" Movie Review

Excellent documentary for shoe enthusiasts. Sadly, there was a limited amount of publicity done for this doc. On the bright side, I caught the cute film on Netflix and it tickled my fancy. Honestly, I thought it would be about an assassin in stilettos or ball-busting businesswomen based on the cover advertisement above.

Totally wrong.

Shoe-cabulary: Kiltie

Kiltie
A flap of fringe used decoratively over the vamp or the instep of a sandal, boot, ballet flat or sneaker.

Lunch!!! Chrissie Morris

This lovely one is not only adorable, it has dimension. I'm completely smitten with all things polka dot at the moment and this shoe totally does it for me. Rounded at the toe for comfort, and detailed with a flirty tassel all this shoe needed was a cone-shaped heel and voila, there it is. Chrissie Morris really nailed it with this dainty look.

Thoughts?

Shoe-cabulary: D'Orsay Shoes

Welcome to class ladies and gentlemen.  Instead of going around naming parts of the shoe with euphemisms like, 'whatchamacall it' or by color. I'm going to help you refine and define your shoe-cabulary---add that word to the coinage while we're at it :)

Let's start with...

D'Orsay

A style of pump with one or both sides cut away, exposing the arch of the foot.

This is lovely

Lunch!!! Dolce & Gabbana

I have to say that I have always had an infatuation with Dolce & Gabbana. I've never wanted to commit but a fun weekend getaway could be exactly what a woman needs.  This stacked high, chunky cork stem embodies just that.

Dear size 13.....

I recently chatted up a new friend of mine, Swat, that struggles with finding size 13 shoes. What she expressed, which I'm sure many of you have felt if you have a larger foot, is the dreaded experience of shoe shopping. We both agreed there were fewer options as she moved of the foot ladder.

Lunch!!! Nicholas Kirkwood

It was only a matter of time before I reviewed Nicky Kirkwood. He is an amazing architect. I say architect because his shoes are well constructed and it seems like he gets his inspiration from various shapes, buildings and structures, then he manifests them into shoes. What more could a woman ask for, great shoes and architecture?

Let's take a gander, shall we? What a delectable shoe. Mounted on an island platform and supported by a 5" stiletto with a ruffled tail, will have you floating on cloud 9.

Ravishing Red
I predicted him to be the next "It" shoe designer back in 2008 and he's well on his way.

Shoes In The News!

We've all looked at a stiletto and thought, "Wow, you could use those things as a weapon." Well, Houston area woman, Ana Lilia Trujillo, 44, was arrested Sunday and charged with her lover's murder, court documents state. Her mate was a faculty member at the University of Houston by the name of Alf Stefan Andersson, 59. I couldn't make this up.

Lunch!!! Tom Ford

Tom Ford has done it again!! I love anything this man creates: clothes, makeup, fragrance and shoes. More than anything he has bestowed upon us a cone-heeled shoe. The cone-heel is every woman's fantasy. It gives the height of a stiletto with the balance of a wedge. Feast your eyes, loves.

Loves her. She's such a lady.

Could you picture yourself in a pair of these and a summer dress? Gorge.
